After moving to Philadelphia in 1879, Cyrus Curtis built an American magazine publishing empire, anchored by the Ladies’ Home Journal, the first American magazine to reach a circulation of a million, and The Saturday Evening Post. One of the most popular magazines in American history, the Saturday Evening Post soared from a circulation of a million in 1909 to seven million in 1961.
