Philip Henry Sheridan by Thomas Buchanan Read, 1871.
Close Window

Energy packed oil on canvas painting of General Sheridan in full uniform, sword in hand, charging forward upon the back a magnificent black horse. Dust billows underneath and behind the horse, depicted with all four feet off the ground and his tail flying. In the hazy background are images of other soldiers. One can almost feel the wind and hear the battle.
