Butler's first public school recreated the one-room school experience. Built in 1838, the building was then used by the school district for offices, the public library and meetings. The school is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The Little Red Schoolhouse is located at 200 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania. Open the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, May through October from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Group tours and use of grounds available by arrangement.
