Assessment Strategies
Teacher guides are provided for each of the student worksheets associated with the occupation folders: Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 1-Miner Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 2-Teamster Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 3-Founder Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 4-Collier Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 5-Hopewell Village A guide is also provided for creating the iron occupations chart: Teacher Guide to Student Worksheet 6-Iron Occupations chart. Students can also be assessed for: ~class interpretation of images ~dynamics of group work ~cooperation and participation during imagining sequence The culminating activity of writing the ironworkers letter offers students the chance for self-assessment. A check-list of criteria is included with the letter template. Students may check off requirements as they are completed. Additionally, a prepared rubric is available for assessment of this final activity.
