Located on Jacobs Creek between Westmoreland and Fayette counties, on the Fayette county side of the creek, a few miles above the confluence with the Youghiogheny River. Built 1789, by William Turnbull and Peter Marmie. Out of blast 1802.
The following legend is told about this furnace: with his furnace on the verge of collapse Marnie drove his pack of hunting dogs across the ramp into the blazing tunnel head and then jumped in himself.
