Designed by modernist architect Oscar Stonorov and constructed by the federal government on 120 acres between Holme Avenue and Frankford Avenue in northeast Philadelphia, Pennypack Woods was one of eight government-sponsored cooperative communities turned over to its residents at the end of the war.
