Fannie Sellins, undated photograph.
A contemporary of "Mother" Jones, Fannie Sellins began her career as a labor organizer in the garment industry. Much of her work involved supporting women and children exploited by industrial corporations. On July 21, 1919, Sellins was murdered by armed guards in Brackenridge, Allegheny County, PA. during a coal workers' strike. No one was ever punished for the crime.
