Cornplanter's Seneca Nation release

Land documents like this one became increasingly important to Native Americans after the American Revolution, as they struggled to retain homelands from grasping squatters and speculators. Cornplanter's personal deed to the Cornplanter Tract secured the Seneca community there into the 1960s.
