Oyster Point Tavern

Built in 1824, Oyster's Tavern stood at the intersection of the Trindle Road and Carlisle Pike. On the afternoon of June 29, 1863, Confederate cavalry charged Union militia near the tavern, only to be stopped at a log and tree barricade. They lost a cannon during the attack, but retrieved it in a second charge. When photographed in 1900, the grand old tavern was already showing its age.
