This ledger page from a McConnellsburg store lists items taken during the raid of Confederate General George H. Steuart between June 24 and 26, 1863. The rebel raiders had paid with worthless Confederate script, so storeowners kept itemized lists in the hope that the federal government would later reimburse them.
