The Death of Rihl, by Pennsylvania artist Mark Twain Noe depicts the Rebel attack of June 22, 1863, on Captain William H. Boyd's company of the 1st New York Cavalry. Shot and killed from ambush near the Fleming Farm just north of Greencastle, 20 year-old Philadelphia Corporal William H. Rihl became the first Union soldier to die above the Mason-Dixon Line.
