John Brown's New Richmond tannery was successful for several years, employing 15 people. Its ruins are still visible today.

In the late 1820s and early 1830s, John Brown's farm and tannery in New Richmond, PA, was a major stop on the Underground Railroad. Today, the farm is a museum open to the public.
