Old Broad Street Station. Opened in 1881 at Broad and Filbert Streets, PRR's Broad Street Station was for many years the world's largest passenger terminal. After its enlargement in 1890, sixteen tracks on top of an elevated right of way known as "Chinese Wall" bisected the city west to the Schuylkill River. Some 450 trains a day passed through the station before its demolition in 1954.
