Like his contemporary Benjamin Franklin, physician Benjamin Rush (1745-1813) was a Renaissance Man whose interests and influence in Pennsylvania were broad and deep. Active in the abolition movement and in educational, medical, and prison reform, he was also fascinated by the study of Native Americans.
