Pittsburgh watercolor 1817

Born as a trading post built around Fort Pitt during the French and Indian War, Pittsburgh boasted more than 1,500 residents, sixty shops, and the first newspaper west of the Alleghenies. By then it was already Pennsylvania's gateway to the west.
