The scene of some of the bloodiest fighting of the Battle of Germantown, this Georgian mansion was the home of Benjamin Chew, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Seven generations of the Chew family would live in Cliveden before it was deeded over to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which operates it as a historic house museum, open to the public from April through December.
