Born in the Netherlands, Edward Bok edited the Ladies Home Journal in Philadelphia from 1889-1919. Under Bok’s leadership the Journal became the first magazine in the world to achieve a circulation of a million. In 1921 Bok won a Pulitzer prize for his autobiography, The Americanization of Edward Bok.
