In 1770 John De Turk bought the former Boone home, where Daniel Boone had lived as a child. Today, the De Turk cemetery is part of the Daniel Boone Homestead Museum, as is a house built by Samuel De Turk in 1812, which now serves as the Museum's De Turk Educational Center.
