Aerial view of the Lazaretto

After the immigration station closed in 1897, the Lazaretto was used as a fishing and boating club, a flying club, and during World War I as a training site for the Army Signal Corps. When this photo was taken in the 1920s the Lazaretto site was run down, but still largely intact.
