Betty McNellis sings for a television broadcasting demonstration

After Philo Farnsworth left Philco in 1934, the company continued its own research in the development of television, and after World War II became a major manufacturer of television receivers. In 1936 Philco projected a television image of singer Betty McNellis and her accompanist Charles Stec to a receiving set seven miles away, and reported that received images came across as faithfully as home motion pictures with sound.
