Designed by architect Benjamin Latrobe, who is best known for his design of the United States" Capitol in Washington D.C., Dickinson's "New College" building–today's Old West–was first used in 1805 but not completed until 1822. Constructed from central Pennsylvania limestone, it remains the heart of the college and its campus.
