One of Lehigh's oldest rivals in intercollegiate athletics, nearby Lafayette College ranks as a leading liberal arts college in regional and national surveys. By one count the Lehigh and Lafayette football rivalry had been played 143 times between 1884 and 2007, making it the longest-standing uninterrupted collegiate football rivalry in American history.
