After graduating from Bryn Mawr in 1909, Marianne Moore returned to her mother’s home in Carlisle, and there taught stenography at the Carlisle Indian School from 1911 to 1915. Here, too, she wrote and published more than fifty poems, some of which were published in The Egoist, a magazine edited by the husband of Bryn Mawr classmate Hilda Doolittle.
