By 2005, western Pennsylvania high schools had already produced more than four dozen professional quarterbacks, including George Blanda, Johnny Unitas, Willy Thrower, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, and Dan Marino. Born and raised in Beaver Falls, Namath spent thirteen years in the NFL and led the New York Jets to the first AFL victory over the NFL champion Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl 3.
