In 1948, Robert Ferris Prince (1916 - 1985) joined the Pirate's broadcast booth as a commentator. In the decades that followed he became one of most popular and distinctive voices in sports broadcasting history. Known for his nicknames and phrases, called as "Gunnerisms," Prince called Pirates games until his retirement in 1975.
