When it opened the doors of its new building on the corner of Pulaski Avenue and Coulter Street in 1885, Germantown's Wissahickon Boys Club was the first African-American boys club in the nation. Here, black boys between the ages of six and eighteen participated in organized recreational programs and other out-of-school activities.
