In the 1930s, Bob Hoffman used female bodybuilders to host shows, model his products and exercises in Strength and Health magazine, and promote his vision of female health, strength, and beauty. The most popular of his female strength athletes was Abbye Stockton, one of America's first female bodybuilders, who worked with York for several decades.
