An outstanding athlete at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was intercollegiate champion in both the 100- and 220-yard dashes in 1898 and 1899, John B. Tewksbury (sitting on the left) won one bronze, two silver, and two gold medals in track and field at the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris. Sitting next to him is his roommate and fellow Olympian Alvin Christian Kraenzlein.
