Homestead's greatest swimmer, Lennore Kight in 1933 held every national freestyle crown from 100 to 1,500 meters. During her career she set seven world records, twenty-three AAU Records, and twenty-four American records. Kight also competed in the 1932 and 1936 Olympics, winning a silver and a bronze medal.
