In 1932, Virginia Marley and Mildred Meyer of Girl Scout Troop 12 in Overbrook posed for this photograph while baking cookies for Philadelphia day nurseries to promote a United Campaign to raise $9 million for relief. Two years later, Keebler-Wyl in Philadelphia would bake 100,000 boxes of the first commercially produced Girl Scout Cookie, a vanilla cookie in the form of a trefoil, the Girl Scout symbol.
