Fred Morgan Kirby owned 96 stores when he joined with rival F. W. Woolworth in 1912. Kirby then served as a vice-president of the Woolworth's corporation from 1912 to 1938. A noted philanthropist, Kirby served as a trustee of Lafayette College from 1916 to 1940.
