David O. Saylor's Coplay portland cement gained priceless nation-wide publicity and earned an award at Philadelphia's Centennial Exhibition in 1876. Among its many applications across the country, "Saylor's portland cement" was used to build Philadelphia's Girard Avenue and Callowhill street bridges.
