Born and raised on a dairy farm at Mt. Cobb, near Scranton, PA, Jack and Gus Mack went to work for Brooklyn wagon builder Falleson and Berry in 1890, and after purchasing the company in 1893 moved into self-propelled vehicles. After experimenting with a variety of power plants, they designed, built, and sold their first tour bus in 1900. Jack served as the first president of the Mack Brothers Company and of the Mack Brothers Motor Car Company in Allentown.
