Photogenic, vivacious, and utterly fearless, McKeesport's Helen Richey was already a successful stunt pilot and co-holder of the women's aviation endurance record when she participated in the Annette Gipson Trophy Race for women, Roosevelt Field, Long Island, NY, June 24, 1934. Two years later, she would be Amelia Earhart's co-pilot in the 1936 transatlantic Bendix Trophy race.
