Although it was the largest produce of coke, the H. C. Frick Coke Company was one of the last coke companies to employ mechanical coke loading equipment. This photograph from the early 1900s shows the back-breaking job of hand loading coke into wooden railroad box cars at Hostetter Coke Works in Unity Township, PA.
