As he had planned, Henry Frick made his first million dollars by the age of thirty. An inveterate enemy of unions, Frick for decades dominated the bituminous coal industry of western Pennsylvania. A partner of Andrew Carnegie in the 1890s he became his bitter enemy after the Homestead strike of 1892.
