The relocation of the federal capital from New York to Philadelphia inspired an unidentified critic to draw this satire, which focused on the opportunity to make money the move created for Philadelphians. Here the devil, calling out "This way Bobby," lures two boats away from the "Potowmack"–and what would become Washington D.C.–towards a dangerous catarck. "Bobby" refers to Philadelphia financier Robert Morris, who many believed had engineered the move to Philadelphia.
