On the evening of January 1, 1901, officials from the Carnegie Companies gathered at the Schenly Hotel in Pittsburgh to celebrate the impending buyout of the Carnegie Company by J P Morgan. Carnegie would soon become part of the United States Steel Corporation, the world's largest steel producer and largest corporation.
