In this modern painting, artist Robert Griffing depicts the August 5, 1763 Indian ambush of British and American troops led by Colonel Henry Bouquet near Bushy Run Station in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. After his victory in this two day battle during Pontiac's war, Bouquet then broke the Indian siege of Fort Pitt, and in the process ended Indian hopes of driving American colonists from western Pennsylvania.
