Livingston and Evans wrote twenty-six songs that sold more than a million records and won three Academy Awards. They also wrote the theme songs for television series, including Bonanza and Mister Ed, a sitcom about a horse that talked only to his owner, which ran from 1961 to 1966. Livingston also sang the Mr. Ed theme, uttering those memorable words "A horse is a horse, of course, of course." In this 1963 photo, Mr. Ed is supposedly talking over the shoulder of actor Alan Young, who is on the phone.
