One of the great American novelists of the twentieth century, John O’Hara set more than fifty of his short stories and eight of his novels in “Gibbsville,” a fictionalized reworking of his hometown of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. In them, O’Hara provided his readers a glimpse into the worlds of well-to-do Americans and class conflict in the old coal towns of Schuylkill County.
