Congressman John Saylor at Indian ceremony

In appreciation for his opposition to construction of the Kinzua Dam, the Seneca Nation made Johnstown Congressman John Saylor an honorary member its tribe in September 1962.  A firm believer in the value of America's unspoiled landscapes, Saylor introduced the bill that became National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968.
