Born and raised in Easttown Township, Chester County, General "Mad" Anthony Wayne (1745-1796) compiled a long record of bloody service during the American Revolution, then led the American troops that defeated the Ohio Indians at the Battle of Fallen Timbers in 1794. In 1796 Wayne died and was buried near Erie, PA. In 1809 his body was disinterred and the remaining flesh boiled from his bones, which were reinterred in the family plot in St. David's Episcopal Church cemetery in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
