One of the speakers at the Aaronsburg celebration of American pluralism and religious tolerance was acclaimed African-American diplomat Ralph Bunche. Active in the American civil rights movements after World War Two, Bunche had helped draft the United Nations charter. In 1950 he would win the Nobel Peace Prize for the role he played in the UN mediated 1949 Armistice Agreements, which brought peace to the Middle East.
