Born and raised in Doylestown, PA, James Michener became one of the most popular writers of the 20th century. His epic novels, some of them more than 1,000 pages, sold more 75 million copies. Michener was also a great philanthropist, giving away more than $100 million and funding the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown.
