After graduating from Bryn Mawr College and teaching at the Carlisle Indian School, from 1911 to 1915, Marianne Moore moved to New York where she became a distinguished poet, influential editor, and literary celebrity. Although she described herself as “a happy hack,” T. S. Eliot believed that her “poems form part of the small body of durable poetry written in our time.”
