Nicknamed "The Knight of Kennett Square" after the Delaware County town he grew up in, Herb Pennock jumped from high school to the Philadelphia Athletics in 1912. Traded by Connie Mack, Pennock went on to win 241 games and became an anchor of the great New York Yankee's teams of the 1920s.
