From his start as a printer of seed and nursery catalogues, Harrisburg, PA's J. Horace McFarland became one of the state's best known and most influential Progressives. A leader in the national city beautiful movement, he also was a moving force behind the preservation of Niagara Falls and creation of the National Park system.
