Henry Heinz's shrewd use of advertising helped vault his H.J. Heinz Company from a regional Pennsylvania enterprise into the nation's largest producer of condiments and processed foods. In one advertising campaign that set tongues to wagging near the turn of the century, Heinz plastered "Heinz 57" everywhere he could, including in concrete blocks above major Pittsburgh roadways.
