For the sightseer and nature photographer, Colonel Denning is a park of surprises, great beauty and charm. The wooded park nestles at the side of a mountain and has a scenic lake and excellent hiking trails. A hike on a 2.5-mile trail rises to Flat Rock for a beautiful vista of the Cumberland Valley. You can also find 18 miles of hiking trails, backpacking trailhead, ice skating and cross country skiing. Many state parks have varying levels of handicap accessible facilities. Campground available with 52 sites (32 electric, 20 non-electric). No showers, or flush toilets. Sites can be reserved by calling 1-888-727-2757, 11 months in advance. Nature activities available during the summer months. Swimming available in an unguarded beach area. Food concession in operation during the summer months.
